Who We Are
Our practice took root in Ghana around 1975, formalising as Arch-Design Consult by 1978. What began as an architectural design firm has grown, over five decades, into a full-lifecycle infrastructure partnership — built on sustained client relationships, deep programme experience, and an unbroken commitment to Ghana's built environment across every phase of project delivery.
We have worked across healthcare facilities, educational institutions, housing developments, and urban civic infrastructure — advising clients from initial feasibility through design, construction oversight, and commissioning. That breadth of experience across sixteen regions and more than twenty sectors of Ghana's built environment is what we bring to every engagement, whether as a standalone consultant or as the anchor partner within a multi-organisation consortium.

Founder
A Career Built Around Purposeful Design
For Clement Berku Karikari, architecture was always about more than buildings. It was about creating places that serve people, strengthen institutions and support national development.
He founded the practice that became Arch-Design Consult in 1975, beginning a professional journey that would span several decades. During that period, he worked across a broad range of sectors, from hospitals and universities to housing, offices, markets and community facilities.
His career developed at a time when Ghana was expanding its public infrastructure and institutional capacity. This placed him and the firm at the centre of projects that required both architectural judgement and a practical understanding of delivery conditions.
Through Arch-Design Consult, he built a practice known for technical discipline, professional integrity and attention to the realities of construction. His work helped establish the firm's reputation with government institutions, public agencies, private-sector clients and development partners.
The firm's current direction builds on that legacy. While Arch-Design Consult has expanded beyond traditional architectural practice into broader design, infrastructure development and project-delivery services, its foundation remains rooted in the professional values established by its founder.

What We Do
For direct client commissions, we serve as the lead design and delivery consultant. For larger or more complex programmes, we establish and anchor a project-specific delivery consortium — assembling the technical, construction, finance, technology and operational capabilities the assignment requires.
Lifecycle Delivery
Full-Lifecycle Delivery Model
Arch-Design's delivery model is built around one principle: projects should be prepared, designed, financed, delivered and managed as one connected lifecycle rather than as a series of disconnected appointments.
- Stage 01 — Define: Clarify the need, client objectives, users, site, constraints and success measures.
- Stage 02 — Prepare: Undertake feasibility, surveys, concept development, costing, approvals and delivery planning.
- Stage 03 — Structure: Select the appropriate procurement, commercial, financing and risk-allocation model.
- Stage 04 — Deliver: Coordinate design completion, procurement, construction, quality, cost, schedule and reporting.
- Stage 05 — Commission: Complete testing, operating documentation, training, handover and defects arrangements.
- Stage 06 — Manage: Protect asset performance through planned maintenance, lifecycle management and operational oversight.
